Our Verdict
The Jya Fjord Pro certainly takes up a lot of floor space, and the fact that it can only be rolled sideways is a bit strange. That said, it’s a nicely designed and affordable unit that picks up where its sibling model starts to struggle, i.e. in slightly larger spaces.
It’s been almost two years since we tested the Jya Fjord air purifier, a small yet powerful unit with effective purification that puts many of its competitors to shame. Now we have the Jya Fjord Pro, a larger machine for larger spaces, and our expectations were naturally high.
The Jya Fjord Pro is a hefty unit, one of the largest air purifiers we’ve received for testing so far, measuring 12.2 x 11.8 x 28.2 inches (DxWxH) and weighing in at 22.7 pounds. Fortunately, there are wheels mounted on the base for easier movement–but only sideways, which is a bit strange.
The Jya Fyord Pro’s black-and-aluminum color combination gives the unit an industrial feel that sets it apart from the pack.
The so-called “premium feeling” is palpable, the construction is solid, and I didn’t notice any noise when I rolled the device to the intended place in the house, nor when I opened the rear door to insert the air filter.
Design
Form and design are important, even for air purifiers, and this Jya Fyord Pro has a lot of character. The black-and-aluminum color combination gives the unit an industrial feel that sets it apart from the pack.
This review is part of TechHive’s in-depth coverage of the best air purifiers.
Apart from the power button (located in the rear, near the bottom), the Jya Fjord Pro lacks physical buttons, just like its smaller sibling. The touch-enabled OLED screen in the front lets you manage the air purifier’s functions. By swiping your finger to the side and then tapping your finger on the screen, you can set the brightness, select the power mode, and adjust the angle of the upward airflow.

The screen also provides information on the remaining filter life as well as the number of particles currently passing through the unit (PM2.5 or PM10), while status symbols for pollen and TVOC change color from green (excellent), yellow (good) and orange (moderate) to red (unhealthy), depending on the air quality.
The Jya Fjord Pro has a CADR value of 324 cubic feet/minute and is suitable for a room size of 409-710 square feet, and it does the job with flying colors.

The air is filtered through a 3-filter system: a pre-filter that captures larger particles such as dust, pollen and dander; a so-called NanoGuard filter for airborne particles down to 0.1 μm in size; and finally an activated carbon layer that neutralizes odors and harmful gases. However, the model lacks the extended protection against viruses and bacteria in the form of sterilizing UV light that its sibling model offers.
Air quality sensors
The Jya Fjord Pro is equipped with multiple sensors, including temperature and humidity, as well as dedicated particle and gas sensors. The latter sensors reacted very quickly to the slightest pollution, triggering an immediate adjustment to the fan speed (provided the auto mode is activated). There is also a silent sleep mode and manual speed adjustment.

With the help of the accompanying app, the setup process was quick, and the intuitive interface makes it easy to control all of the air purifier’s functions.

Performance
So, does this hefty air purifier live up to its promise? Yes, it does. After a number of measurements, I noted a reduction of PM2.5 from 162 to 1 and PM10 from 21 to 1. The result was similar even when I let the Jya Fjord Pro clean a much larger room than the reference space.

Note: To test air purifiers, we use an advanced particle counter, PCE Instruments PCE-PCO 1 borrowed from Conrad.se. All air purifiers are tested in the same environment. The first measurement takes place in an uncleaned room (20 m²), then we let the air purifier run at maximum level for half an hour, after which the next measurement is performed. The values should be seen as an indication as the measurements are performed in a home environment and not in a clinically optimal test environment.
